At Copperband Scuba Academy, we don’t just dive… we explore. 🧭
Our passion has always been discovering new places for Scuba Diving in Pattaya, and since March 2025, we’ve proudly uncovered four brand-new dive sites — all currently (as of February 2026) explored exclusively by us.
And now… we’ve done it again.
On 11th February 2026, something special happened. 🚀
🧭 Exploration Day – The Adventure Begins
Three of our explorer instructors and a few of our most dedicated team members woke up with one goal:
“Today is an exploration day.”
With nautical charts spread out, insights from experienced local friends, and guidance from our incredible captain, we identified a promising location due east of Na Baan Pier, just off Koh Larn.
The charts suggested:
- 📍 Shallowest depth: 4–5 meters
- 📍 Deepest depth: 15–18 meters
- 📍 Possible pinnacle structure
But here’s the thing…
A pinnacle that close to Pattaya?
Marked with a buoy?
Undived?
Surely not…
🚤 Setting Sail Into the Unknown
“Captain, set the GPS — let’s go!”
The excitement onboard was electric ⚡
If you know Scuba Diving in Pattaya, you know most sites are well-established. Finding somewhere new — and close to existing sites — would be a game-changer.
We arrived.
Nothing obvious on the surface.
But when the anchor dropped at 7 meters… we knew something was there.
🤿 The Dive Into the Unknown
Gear on.
Buddy checks complete.
One simple dive brief:
- 👯 Stay with your buddy
- 🛟 Surface safely if separated
- 🌊 Explore and observe
We descended…
3m… nothing.
5m… still sand.
6m… anticipation rising.
And then — at around 9 meters — LIFE. 🌺
A thriving coral reef exploded into view.
🪸 A Hidden Coral Wonderland
The reef was alive with:
- 🌸 Soft corals swaying in the current
- 🪨 Hard coral structures forming the backbone
- 🌬️ An unusually high number of fan corals
- 🐌 An abundance of nudibranchs
- 🐠 Thriving reef fish everywhere
The deeper we explored, the more vibrant it became.
After 35 minutes, we looked at each other underwater…
We had done it.
We had found a pinnacle in Pattaya.
But then… it got even better.
🐢 The Moment We’ll Never Forget
As we approached what looked like the end of the pinnacle and prepared to cross over…
A GREEN TURTLE appeared.
Absolute magic. ✨
In that moment, we knew:
Scuba Diving in Pattaya had just leveled up.
📍 About The Pattaya Pinnacle Dive Site
🌊 Exposure & Experience Level
This site is exposed and best suited for:
- ✔️ Open Water divers with 20+ dives
- ✔️ Advanced Open Water divers and above
- ✔️ Comfortable divers in mild current
It is likely best dived at slack tide, though continued exploration will help us understand the conditions better.
The site benefits from partial protection from surrounding islands near Pattaya, meaning conditions may often be calmer than expected.
📏 Depth & Dive Profile
- 📊 Average depth: 10 meters
- ⏱️ Ideal for a 60-minute dive
- 🔄 Perfect for exploring both sides of the coral line
- 🪨 Base: Rocky foundation mixed with sandbanks
There are strong indications of smaller surrounding reefs — potentially ideal habitat for seahorses 🐎 (future missions pending!).
🌱 A Pristine, Undisturbed Reef
One of the most exciting discoveries?
Very little human disturbance.
- Minimal waste
- Limited fishing impact
- A natural, thriving ecosystem
Some old ghost nets remain, but they have become part of the reef structure and now provide habitat for marine life.
This truly feels like a lost world beneath the surface. 🌎
