Deep and Underwater Navigation are required dives. The other three are selected with your instructor to suit your interests, site conditions and training opportunities.

Night diving is available on request and may involve additional fees. Ask us before including it in your course plan.

An adventure dive is a useful introduction to a new type of diving. Tell us whether you want better navigation, buoyancy control or an introduction to wreck diving. Your instructor helps select the available options. If you want more detailed training in one subject, compare the relevant specialty before deciding.

Five adventure dives with a clear purpose

The PADI Advanced Open Water course in Pattaya helps an already certified diver become more deliberate about planning and underwater decisions. Its five adventure dives include Deep and Underwater Navigation, together with three electives chosen around your interests, the instructor’s advice and suitable local conditions. The useful question is which skills you want to improve, rather than simply how quickly you can collect the next card.

Navigation develops awareness of direction, distance and the route back to an agreed point. Deep-diving training introduces the additional planning and monitoring involved as depth increases. Elective activities might introduce buoyancy, wreck observation, fish identification or another available subject. We agree the actual combination before training; selecting a course date does not guarantee a particular wreck or elective.

An adventure dive is an introduction to a subject. A complete specialty gives you further practice and a more focused set of requirements. If wreck diving is your main goal, for example, discuss the Advanced course and the Wreck Diver specialty together so you understand what each programme covers.

Who benefits from Advanced Open Water training?

You need an Open Water qualification or an accepted equivalent. You do not need to describe yourself as an expert, but you should tell us honestly about your recent dives and comfort with basic skills. If you have not dived for a long time, a refresher or familiarisation dive may be a better first step than combining every new challenge into the first training day.

This course suits divers who want structured variety: a clearer navigation plan, more controlled buoyancy or a first supervised look at another type of diving. It also helps identify what you enjoy most before investing in specialty training. Bring your certification details and logbook information so the instructor can understand what you have already done.

Pattaya’s island and wreck options give training a practical local context, but the course follows learning objectives rather than a sightseeing checklist. The chosen site must support the exercise and suit conditions on the day. Leave room in your travel plans for training, rest and a sensible progression.

Qualification and age limits still apply

The standard adult Advanced Open Water qualification extends recreational training to a maximum depth of 30 metres. Junior Advanced training has age-related restrictions, so give us the participant’s age before booking. A stated maximum depth does not mean every training dive will reach it or that every deep site is suitable.

You must first hold the appropriate Open Water qualification or accepted equivalent. Send the certification details for an eligibility check, and tell us if you need a refresher. The course builds on foundational skills rather than replaces missing entry-level training.

The remaining diving balance is paid separately. If accommodation is unavailable, you can still book diving.
