The PADI Deep Diver specialty focuses on planning and conducting deeper recreational dives. Training addresses the effects of depth, gas planning and recognising and managing narcosis, alongside practical dive procedures.
A deeper site is not a reason to skip preparation. Discuss the course with an instructor if your goal is to develop the skills and judgement for deeper diving, rather than simply book a trip with a particular depth in mind.
Entry requirements and training
PADI lists a minimum age of 15 and Adventure Diver certification or a qualifying equivalent as the entry basis. The full specialty includes four open-water training dives. The instructor will confirm your eligibility, any applicable previous training credit and the programme required for you.

Deep training and wreck interests
If your interest comes from Pattaya’s wreck opportunities, explain which activity you hope to do. Deep Diver training and Wreck Diver training address different objectives. A deep qualification does not automatically provide training for entering a wreck.
