Scuba Regulator Compatibility Guide

Regulator compatibility involves the cylinder valve, first stage, second stage and the complete hose configuration. Read the exact package contents: a second stage alone is different from a first-and-second-stage set.

DIN or yoke connection

Match the first-stage connection and pressure rating to the cylinder valves you intend to use. Adaptors have their own compatibility and pressure limits. If you are unsure which connection your regular dive operator uses, confirm it before ordering.

What does a regulator set include?

Check whether the listing includes a first stage, primary second stage, alternate second stage, pressure gauge and hoses. Photographs may show accessories; the stated package contents should determine what you expect to receive.

Ports, hoses and breathing systems

High-pressure and low-pressure connections have different purposes. Check the manufacturer’s specified port sizes, hose routing and compatibility. A regulator or hose should not be selected by appearance alone. Have assembly and adjustments carried out by a qualified technician.

Conditions and gas suitability

Choose equipment rated for the temperatures, gases and conditions of your planned dives. Do not assume that a regulator is suitable for every oxygen mixture or cold-water environment. Follow manufacturer specifications and your training.

Servicing and care

Check the manufacturer’s inspection and servicing schedule for the model. Ask about the applicable servicing arrangements before purchase. Rinse and store equipment according to the manual, with appropriate protection for the first-stage inlet.
